The Penobscot Bay YMCA and the Town of Thomaston are partnering to offer free, confidential support for residents through our Community Navigator program. Connect with local resources, benefits, and services to get the help you need — from housing and food to childcare, recovery support, and more.

Meet Your Community Navigator

Heather Devita!

Heather is here to help you access local and state resources, benefits, and assistance programs. She will guide you through paperwork, applications, and connect you to the right services.

Navigating resources and benefits can be confusing and stressful. The Community Navigator program ensures that Thomaston residents have someone to guide them, reduce stress, and help them access the support they need for housing, food, health, and wellbeing.

Other Maine communities have seen that having a dedicated navigator prevents missed opportunities for assistance and helps neighbors thrive.

Program Schedule & Locations

Mondays, 4–7 PM

📍 Thomaston Public Library, 60 Main St, Thomaston

Tuesdays & Thursdays, 9–11 AM

📍 Thomaston Municipal Building, 13 Valley St, Thomaston

The program is also available by appointment.

 

What the Community Navigator Program Does

The Community Navigator program exists to simplify access to local and state support, helping residents get the resources they need quickly and confidentially.

Inspired by similar programs in Central Lincoln County and other Maine communities, navigators have helped people:

  • Avoid gaps in support

  • Access essential resources with dignity

  • Connect with services they didn’t know existed

The Community Navigator can assist with finding resources related to:

  • Food, clothing, and housing

  • Transportation

  • Recovery support

  • Fuel assistance

  • Child care

  • Employment
     

  • And more! Not sure where to start? Heather will help you figure out the next step.

Pilot Program Note:

This is a grant-funded pilot currently serving Thomaston residents only, but we hope to expand in the future to reach more neighbors and meet additional local needs!
