Taste Peace on Tranquil Trails

Day Arnold, BSND

In the heart of our beautiful Midcoast Maine community, we understand the unique challenges that impact our emotional and mental health. Balancing daily stresses while maintaining a healthy lifestyle can be daunting, but it's essential for our overall well-being. That's why we’re excited to invite you to our upcoming event, Tranquil Trails, designed to bring a sense of peace and mindfulness while educating on the crucial connection between nutrition and cognitive health.

What to Expect at Tranquil Trails:

At Tranquil Trails, participants will first embark on a gentle, guided walking meditation led by Adi Govinda Dasa. Adi serves our community as a valuable part of MaineHealth Community Health out of the Pen Bay Medical Center—a local organization committed to improving community health and wellness by providing health education, support, and resources. As a Community Health Worker, Adi offers health education classes, events, and outreach programs to help you stay well, learn about your health, and manage your health conditions. With extensive experience in leading group meditations, Adi's calm and compassionate guidance will help you find a moment of tranquility amidst the hustle and bustle of daily life.

The Community Wellness Trail—a serene local trail tucked away on the Rockport coastline and hidden in plain sight off of the convenient Route 1—will offer a perfect backdrop for this reflective journey, enhanced by 'golden hour' lighting, allowing you to immerse yourself in nature's peaceful embrace.

Toward the end of your walk, you'll arrive at a picturesque picnic table station overlooking our rocky Maine coastline. There, I will be waiting to guide you through a fun and educational trail mix-making experience. As a community nutritionist and SNAP-Ed Nutrition Educator, I am passionate about sharing valuable knowledge on the importance of including foods that support cognitive health and emotional well-being in everyday meals. During our trail mix workshop, we'll explore how simple, nutritious ingredients can make a big difference in your cognitive health, and overall quality of life.

Why Cognitive Health Matters:

Understanding the link between what we eat and how we feel is crucial. Proper nutrition plays a significant role in maintaining our mental and emotional balance, which helps us remain steadfast throughout experiences of internal and external stressors. At Tranquil Trails, you'll learn about various ingredients that are not only delicious but also beneficial for your brain. From nuts and seeds rich in omega-3 fatty acids to antioxidant-packed dried fruits, each component of our trail mix is chosen for its supportive role in cognitive function and, in turn, emotional resilience.

Building Resilience Through Nutrition and Mindfulness:

In our fast-paced world, it's easy to feel overwhelmed and dysregulated. By combining mindful meditation practices, time in nature, and thoughtful nutrition, we aim to equip you with tools to build resilience and foster mental wellness. The guided walking meditation will help you center your thoughts, while the nutritional insights will empower you to make food choices that support your lasting mental health.

Join Us for a Day of Peace and Learning:

We warmly invite you to join us for this special event and take a step towards enhancing your overall well-being in today's world. Whether you're seeking a moment of calm, interested in learning more about nutrition to support mental health, or simply want to enjoy a beautiful day on the trail and meet new folks, Tranquil Trails offers something for everyone.

Although registration is not required to attend, it does help us account for everyone when gathering trail mix supplies and other materials!
